My local petco (for some reason) started selling marine fish/inverts and even some corals and they’ve had a 2.5-ish inch scopas tang for at least 4 months in one of their tiny display tanks and I just feel so bad for it. The fish looks decently healthy, no signs of scratching/parasites and I would like to ask what the consensus would be on rescuing this fish and keeping it in my 45 gallon until my 150 gallon is finished being set up. My tank is 3’ x 1’ at the thinnest and 16” at the widest. I’m probably 3 ish months out from the 150 being done.

I don't see a problem with that since people put them in QT tanks which are the same size or smaller for short periods of time.
Thank you for sharing your opinion. I'm going to pick up some dipping medicines and see if I can get him into my QT tank.
