Hello everyone,

Received my PAR meter today and upon inspection noticed the acrylic diffuser has a scuff/scratches on it. They catch my fingernail. I have read to avoid scratching the diffuser as it can affect the cosine correction. I have already reached out to the seller to get it exchanged. Am I making a bigger deal about this than it really is? How much will it really affect the reading? Anyone else received their PAR meter with noticeable damage? Its an Apogee MQ-510 btw.

I wouldn’t be happy. I mean it’s an important piece. If the meter case was scratched whatever but it’s the eye of the unit. Should have been disclosed before purchase

I would assume visible scuffs/scratches would make readings unreliable. If it were me personally I would kick up a fuss and not be happy either

It was brand new. I already sent it back for exchange. Customer service told me it should not affect the readings....which contradicts apogee's manual. Thanks everyone for their input.
