seahorses help

I talk to the owner and friend at my LFS and he says he knows a guy who has 3 seahorse in that same tank on his desk at the office. So after talking to him i posted on here to see what you guys think. Thanks for the advice Doug but i'm still waiting for someone who has tried something like this to chime in

My point is that you can only add so much of a bio-load in a tank that small, doesn't matter if its seahorses/clowns/etc. I admit it would look pretty cool, but am just concerned about those guys long term. You might have to do more water changes, etc... Sorry, I usually err on the side of caution:)

I been keeping Seahorses for awhile now. Its not easy! I never would have got into if I knew all the work it takes.

I am a newbie at this, but I think the general rule of thumb on tank height is 3X max adult height of the searhorse species being kept. With the added effort of supplying BBS to dwarf horses and the potential water fouling, it'd be iffy, especially if you hadn't kept any seahorses before. if you know someone who is keeping three in a 2 gallon, get some info. What kind are they, how long has he had them, how much experience with seahorses, etc.

They are really cool to watch, but with numerous feedings every day and the waste therein, since I've been keeping them, the hobby has gotten much more demanding (still have everything I've always had, just thought I needed another challenge;)). I never fed my reef fish very often, so going to a dedicated 3X daily for the adults has been an increase in work load. Next, the addiction leads me to phyto cultures, which will only further demand more time. Definitely a labor of love (and an ongoign commitment I didn't fully anticpate going in)...

Did you ever get this up and running? I'm doing a 2.5g tank for dwarves and I'm putting 3 pair in there. The only thing I hear is that they are prolific breeders and they will eventually need more space, like a 10g, but you generally want to keep dwarves in a 2 to 5g tank. They must eat LIVE bbs everyday so you'll need to know if you can hatch them out all the time. I realize this thread is from Feb. so I don't know how useful this info is this late lol. Also, you want to make sure you don't get hydros in the tank as they can sting your dwarves to death.
