how do you guys secure the plumbing from the drain and return on a tank you drilled? On the back of the stand or under one of the supports on the stand?

I secure on the back of the stand so there is not much weight on the bulkheads. I also secure the plumbing underneath the tank as well to the crossbraces

I cant seem to figure out how to secure the pvc to the back. The gap is too wide and theres still movement

I would recommend these: http://www.aquacave.com/clic-clamp-32-pipe-hanger-1-id-1-3-8-od.html. Can probably be purchased elsewhere as well.

If you have too large of a gap, simply cut a small piece of wood and secure the small piece of wood to the stand, and the clamp to the wood. Here is a picture of my test run to see if it would work. The answer was yes, it worked perfectly. So much so I didn't even bother to redo it. Drives me crazy the wood pieces are different sizes!!! I used them for horizontal positioning and well as vertical for pipes going down to sump.

Just one way to skin a cat...

I used conduit clamps (gray plastic clamps) to secure pipes to the stand. If need be, use spacers to clamp pipes to something.
