Hi Guys,

I purchases an used Sedra KSP-5000 pump with vertex IN skimmer. It has been running over 3 months.

My main issue is that I am not almost no skim mate. The pump does not seem to be making nearly enough micro bubbles.

I have put the skimmer at different Heights, turned water levels up. I have also cleaned the pump to the best of my ability and do not feel like the impeller has swelling. However I cannot tell.

I have also noticed that the pump will not kick on unless I blow into the Venturi.

Do you guys think it is worth 50 bucks to replace the impeller? Or should I just get a new skimmer?

Thanks in advance!

Sedra skimmer pumps in EuroReef or ASM skimmers are beasts. That being said, the pump must match the skimmer.

Make sure that the vloute inlet and tube are clean of salt creek and debris. You can check the impeller to see if it has all of the needles.
