Hey y'all! I'm new here but I've been in the hobby for 3 years now. Here's my 20 gallon reef [emoji16].

I have an upgrade build that should take off in a few weeks. The DT will be 40 breeder, filtered by a 20 gallon sump.

Now to my question: Do any of you have a separate refugium from the sump itself?

I'm thinking of adding another 10 gallons for a sump to leave some space in the sump for equipment/etc.

Thanks in Advance,

Kaleb

this is my DIY HOB fuge I made out of a fish isolator. I just drilled some holes, put algae and mangroves in it, gave it mild flow and BAM! Simple effective fuge

I have a red sea refer and I converted the built in top off, an extra tank on top of the sump, into a fuge. I put water in from my reactor and it gets returned through a hole I drilled in the side. Its only been up for a week but I am thinking of adding a pump cause the reactor flow is on the low side.

My biggest worry was in having another thing where I was adding water to a tank and I did not want there to be any way to have it spill. It drains when the water level reaches the hole in the side and if somehow, I have no idea how but I am sure it will find a way, that gets blocked it will overflow into the sump, mostly.

I used to have a separate fuge on an older display and it was just next to the display itself so I had it with a front partition where I kept crabs and couple of lobsters.
