Setting a message/"watching" default?

Is there any way to adjust the "defaults" that happen when you comment on someone's post? While there are many posts I "watch" because I am interested in a specific topic, or a specific tank, I don't want to watch every single thread I comment on, as I try and add helpful commentary whenever I can.

I try an remember to "un-watch" the threads I reply to when I am viewing my new post, but sometimes I will forger, and my phone will go nuts as every additional comment will trigger a "someone commented on a thread you are watching" message.

I was just curious if it was possible to set a default "don't watch" setting.

You had your settings to where you watched every thread you subscribed to. I unchecked it. Now you will need to watch any thread that you want to follow. :)
