I’m wondering what settings and height I should use for a 165W Phlizon light. I know it’s not the greatest, but I bought it cheap on Marketplace. My tank is 18”x18”x18” , and the corals are Discosoma mushrooms, with plans to add a bubble tip anemone and zoanthids soon.

What model do you have? When I think about Phlizon lights, I usually think about their grow lights. If it is the marine & reef light then I would follow the suggestions for the ViparSpectra 165w. You should be able to search R2R for the starting setting for the two channels for those.

There are several brands that are built on essentially the same design and are often referred to as "black box" lights. ViparSpectra seems to be the most common brand of this style of light currently but there are several others. I have a pair in a box somewhere, but it has been a while since I have used them so I don't remember the settings of the top of my head. Good luck!
