I have a few invert questions if you would please. I thought I'd combine to one topic instead of creating new ones.

1. I have a Trigger System sump- on one baffle, there's a large gap about inch and half high and takes the length of the baffle. How I can I prevent future critters from going into the next compartment (Which would be the intake with skimmer). or is it going to happen no matter what and they'll be all over the sump?

2. my 75 gal tank has been cycled for over a week now. I've added assorted snails and a few crabs to help tackle the diatoms. In my 2 year old 28 gal tank, I have my sea urchin and emerald crab. How long should I wait before moving them to the 75 gal tank? I am getting eager to break down the 28 gal but I don't want to do it too soon either.

2.5. RE Urchin and Emerald Crab- should I acclimate as if they're new.. or should I make sure just temp and salinity matches and toss them in? I am confident the water in my 28 gal is clean per testing.

3. Florida Fighting Conch- yay or nay? been debating on getting one from reefcleaners when I next order more CUC

thank you!

Here's my opinion for your questions. I hope it helps.
1. The only way you can keep "critters" from moving from one section to another is placing coarse pad in the space between the baffles. I personally wouldn't worry about it. You want the "critters" to move around your sump so they will be taken to your DT for a food source.

2. Before you add anything else, test your water elements. It usually takes several weeks for your tank to stabilize. You don't want to throw money at it until it's ready;) I would acclimate the livestock to the new tank when it's ready.

3. Not familiar with the Fighting Conch. @Lionfish Lair would be able to help you with that.

thanks! and good point about the critters becoming food.

I wasn't sure if urchin and emerald crab needs to be like 6+ months or 2+ months. I can easily wait another month or so, at least until there's more food for them to nosh on.
