Broke my fluval 406 canister. Upgraded to a fluval fx4
Also up graded lights to a fluval 4.0. Currently running both 1.0 and 4.0
2021/22 was my dino year. Not pretty at all. It took until June of 2022 for my dinos to go away but not until they killed off a couple or corals.

It all worked out though. I have a decent amount of coral and fish now. Oh and the dinos are now extinct.

Extinct. Nope they are still there but in harmony with the tank. We create the environment for them to bloom.

zooxanthellae is a type of dinoflagellates. If you use medication or chemical to try to kill dinos you could kill so zooxanthellae in the coral.

I know it but it sounded like a good excuse for a dad joke lol. If nothing else there are cysts that could come back if my nutes hit 0 again.

I’ve used LaCl to drop my phosphates from 1 ppm (Salifert, 1 is as high as it measures so it was likely 1+). I had plenty of counsel here (on R2R) while I was dosing however.

I know what the root causes were of my phosphates though so I don’t have to rely on dosing LaCl (or any other chemical) constantly. I just dosed barely enough tonight to bring phosphates down 0.04 ppm. That’s the first dose in several months and it’ll be the last for several more. I am using this like one might use GFO. That’ll put me back below 0.1 ppm for the next few months at the rate I’m feeding.

@Fish Styx - this is someone else's build thread. Or are you one of the types that thinks their own build thread is the only one that matters and doesn't follow anyone else. Hhhmmmmmm?
