I just finished my second treatment of reef flux. Great results against my GHA outbreak. Wish I found this stuff 6 months ago. Made cleaning the algae from the rocks so much better. Did two 60% water changes right after, 1 day apart and then added a carbon reactor.

Pretty sure I've beaten it for 2 reasons. First is because my rocks are already starting to purple up again. Second, is that I spotted some dinos. Luckily I'm a veteran of that type of fight so i just ditched the carbon and cranked up the flow to my uv and blasted all the rocks off. They seem to be subsiding so far.

On my second big water change somehow I left the valve open on my mixing station for the fresh water so when I added the saltwater it diluted it and I didn't realize until the next day when I checked and the tank water was 1.010 or so SG for 23 hours... this wrecked that bleached green acro you can see in the middle of the tank. Also dang near killed my porites and also a chalice. The superman Monti was hit hard too but the montis always recover within a couple days. Hate making careless mistakes like that.

Here's a couple pics of my dinos. Luckily only ostreopsis this time.

A few little changes happening soon will be adding an octopulse 2 WaveMaker for some extra flow. Also have an old hydra 26 that I think I'll throw up there between the 2 hydra 32s. And soon I'll finally ditch my ridiculous tiny eshopps sump for a 40b.

Also during my gha war I had accidentally broken a cemented rock arm off one of my structures but glass half full does allow me to do a little bit of a rescape. I hate how disorderly everything is in there right now but I'm trying not to change it yet because I plan on adding 2 tangs and I figure I shouldn't change the rockwork at all until they're added as I haven't added a fish in 1.5 years so the current residents might not be fond of newcomers. I'll qt them first for a while so it'll probably be a month or so I'll have to try not to move my rocks. Will probably replenish my cleanup crew soon and maybe slowly add a bit of sand back as siphoned almost everything I could out of that tank during the algae war.

Figured i'd post an update as it's been over a year and a half sine the last one. Just to respond to Petcrazy even if its super late... I love the hydros. I'm using it on 2 systems. I would choose them again if i was still looking. They announce products too early IMO but other than that, they're great and user friendly.

Not much has changed on the tank as far as dosing or equipment since my last update besides a power head or 2. Haven't been dosing Kalk for the last few months as my ph is too high in winter naturally. This does make my alkalinity drop faster which is annoying but spring will be here soon.

The GHA i was fighting in my last post mid 2023 got pushed back good enough by December of 2023 and it's been under control since then thankfully. It mostly confines itself to my frag tank now which is easier to clean out. will try to convince it to grow in an algae reactor of some sort next year when i upgrade the system. Other than that, i do have 2 patches of bubble algae i noticed, hopefully the emerald crabs i added will find it soon.

I did lose both my 3 year old scooter blennies and a pink bar goby soon after i sucked out most of the sand. Sad casualties of my GHA war. I added a purple tang and a white tail bristletooth tang a bit over a year ago. Don't plan on adding anything else fish or coral until i upgrade the tank. no room for anything else.

Here's some recent pics. Some are as old as september 2024 but other than some coral growth, not too much has changed. I'm using a samsung s23 ultra and i have the polyp lab coral view lenses...and i still can't take good pictures so any advice would be appreciated. i wonder if there is a hydra32 light schedule thats perfect for photography instead of coral growth that i could easily switch to or something. No idea why this camera makes everhything look better then real life except it makes my reef tank look like garbage. lol.

This pink goni has been struggling to retain it's color. i've been adding some iodine every couple days which seems to help a bit but i expect it may eventually perish. I probably need to find some Manganese and a way to test for it.

This is just a picture of my bedroom tank from the end of last year. This is one of the biggest Green bta's ive ever seen. he was in my sps tank a couple years ago but got too big and started walking. It has split once or twice since then so this image is likely still the largest. that's a 45g cube tank. Glass is 24" long
