Is that a sun coral i see? How are you liking it? I've always wanted to get one but i'm petrified at the fact that its a NPS and that it'd die on me

Yes, it is a sun coral. I was also petrified because I thought it was going to die. However it is fine. When the lights goes out it blooms beautiful yellow blooms but only when the lights go out. It also turns a darker orange when I first look at it in the morning. I tired taking it out an feeding it in a separate dish to keep my water paramaters safe. However, now I do not take it out because I felt like I was stressing it. I squirt some kent Marine on it when it blooms. However, if I do it to hard it will retract its flower like tentacles. I do not really know how it is eating but it is happy at night and eating. I keep it down lower in the tank because I think I read that it does better. I also test my water a lot! 3-4 times a week sometimes.

I love the hobby. I am a coral person. It has been a learning process. For example I had this white anemonie and it started to die. I think that it was dying. I took it out because the fish and my clearner shrimpy was starting to eat it. I really like it. I had it for only about 3 weeks. I took it out and place in a little chamber in the tank and that really killed it. I also had a few difficulties with fish. I brought a small flame angels from a store that had it in cooper. They said it was just in there because of the temperature change. I borught it home, it would peck at the rocks but would not eat any food. My female clown fish would not leave it alone. It died and that was very sad for me. At theat point I felt like giving up. However, I kept on going and learn from every mistake. I have a coral beauty and two clownfish. I will try a smaller fish next month. Going to take it slow. I have a nice star fish but he comes out only once in a while. I will take a picture and share when he comes out again.
Can you ever Change water to much?

The tank looks great Lisa. Per our conversation, I've moved this over to the members tank forum and you now officially have a build thread!

HELP

I just purchased a leather coral and I probably should not have because I have a sun coral and a bubble coral. Will it release toxins and kill my other corals. How do I post this question to others?

Not unless it's to close to the other corals and they start fighting. Or if it starts dying.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
