So I can’t play golf, because of some stupid virus, my fish are fed up with me staring at them, I’ve cleaned everything I can find, my ‘still’ is brewing away, and I’m going slowly ‘mad’..... So what’s a boy to do.....

Ive bought myself a mountain bike. I used to go cycling years ago (as a child!!), no seriously, I had a mountain bike before and think I sold it after I started playing golf. But cycling is better for you both physically and mentally especially if you play golf like me!

It will take around 2 weeks to be delivered as they build them up for you, and despite various forms of incentive, they won’t do it any quicker......

I’ve also ordered a helmet and I’ll get the other bits and bobs over the next few weeks.

I live next to the route 6 national cycle route (this is a UK thing) so have access to miles of countryside routes. I don’t like road biking so tend to stick to cycle paths, forest etc.

Whenever I see a cyclist they always were those clothes that make them look really thin, so I’ve got to get me some of those, but in ‘big lads’ size!

Good for you, Shaun!

I had a mountain bike that I had built a few years back. It was a Surly - Karate Monkey frame as I thought the name fit me well. I spent top dollar on a gearset, front forks, gooseneck, crank, pedals, etc. It got about as much "mountain" time as I suspect your bike will get. We have about the same number of mountains around Chicago as you have in the UK. However, I did crash, er, um, I mean ride it in different parts of the country. Had a lot of fun and put many miles on it. I wish the same for you!

As for the cycling attire; I believe we'd wear about the same "big lads" size. I'm 6'4" but much heavier than I'd prefer right now. I'm a runner and have taken the last 3 winters off because, well, I hate running when it gets below 10 degrees. Unfortunately, I haven't found the motivation to make a real start again. Tipping the scales at 265lbs right now but dropping. Will hopefully settle in around 225 - 230lbs which is a good weight for me. In the world of Triathlons, guys like us are referred to as "Clydesdales."

Well I’m also a “Clydesdale’ as well as I’m 6 4 and the same lbs having checked the kg equivalent.

Hey, but those tight cycle shorts will make me look dead skinny like all the other bikers so I’ll look ok.

So how was my evening with the new Weber bbq that arrived yesterday?

I went to set up my old one last week, an Outback, and it had disintegrated. Then I realised it was probably 12 years old and the last couple of winters hadn’t helped!

The person in the blur and ‘slumped’ in the chair is my son Ben, and he hardly drank anything other than soft drinks!

The beer is my own, Mangrove Jacks Pink Grapefruit which is delightful

Very nice Shaun, but that garden is crying out for a large koi pond, to finish it off..

The tv is just for redundancy right? That room doesn't need doors, there is no reason to leave!
I know! Well apart from a boy needs vodka! Lol

The problem I have, is when your watching the TV, you sort of get distracted especially in the evenings as both tanks go ‘blue’ and it’s just, well, absolutely beautiful and mesmerising. A program finishes and I’ve missed it all. Ive been watching Narco’s over the past few months, and am on the 3rd rerun of it all! Lol

Or what normally happens is I wake up in the early hours with both tanks dark!

Amazing Tanks, Look great Shaun !!
Thanks Fadi, we’re getting there, well apart from I can’t buy any fish at the moment because of some stupid ‘organism’! I did double check the spelling on this as well! Lol

I won’t buy fish mail order as I need to trust the source as I don't quarantine, corals yes

I have nearly installed a pond a few times, but it’s just something else to maintain, or fall into (didn’t you see the vodka bottle and home brew!)

Oh and the Herons. They would just love a nice bit of koi sushi!

Now how many times have I said, I’m not buying any more established coral colonies because they just do not survive long term. On average 2-3 months if your lucky

Im adamant they come from someone’s tank into the LFS, the water is changed and then they slowly die off. I have absolutely no problem keeping SPS or anything else in my new tank from Frags.

So here’s a picture of the brain coral that was added around 9th February 2020 and you can see what’s happening to it today 20th April and this was £120 worth.

Ive moved it a few times to alter flow, but to no avail and all water parameters are spot on so.....

Shaun, DO NOT EVER BUY ESTABLISHED COLONIES AGAIN!!

Wow shaun all caught up! The pooch is so beautiful! And the grilling view, ;Drool

Spring looks to be in full swing at your end. Nice! Been chilly here..

I died laughing at the last 2 pages. Good stuff. The DEEP is a dream room. Goals.

Sorry about the colony taking a hit. Hope it bounces back soon.

Cheers
