So I can’t play golf, because of some stupid virus, my fish are fed up with me staring at them, I’ve cleaned everything I can find, my ‘still’ is brewing away, and I’m going slowly ‘mad’..... So what’s a boy to do.....

Ive bought myself a mountain bike. I used to go cycling years ago (as a child!!), no seriously, I had a mountain bike before and think I sold it after I started playing golf. But cycling is better for you both physically and mentally especially if you play golf like me!
It will take around 2 weeks to be delivered as they build them up for you, and despite various forms of incentive, they won’t do it any quicker......
I’ve also ordered a helmet and I’ll get the other bits and bobs over the next few weeks.
I live next to the route 6 national cycle route (this is a UK thing) so have access to miles of countryside routes. I don’t like road biking so tend to stick to cycle paths, forest etc.
Whenever I see a cyclist they always were those clothes that make them look really thin, so I’ve got to get me some of those, but in ‘big lads’ size!
Good for you, Shaun!
I had a mountain bike that I had built a few years back. It was a Surly - Karate Monkey frame as I thought the name fit me well. I spent top dollar on a gearset, front forks, gooseneck, crank, pedals, etc. It got about as much "mountain" time as I suspect your bike will get. We have about the same number of mountains around Chicago as you have in the UK. However, I did crash, er, um, I mean ride it in different parts of the country. Had a lot of fun and put many miles on it. I wish the same for you!
As for the cycling attire; I believe we'd wear about the same "big lads" size. I'm 6'4" but much heavier than I'd prefer right now. I'm a runner and have taken the last 3 winters off because, well, I hate running when it gets below 10 degrees. Unfortunately, I haven't found the motivation to make a real start again. Tipping the scales at 265lbs right now but dropping. Will hopefully settle in around 225 - 230lbs which is a good weight for me. In the world of Triathlons, guys like us are referred to as "Clydesdales."
