If the buyer sent the label and had their own insurance put on the package, it's on them. There's nothing you can do on your end, especially since FedEx has already confirmed it's "lost." (Quotes because theft is increasing)
It  would be your issue if you made the label and insured the package yourself. Paypal will likely refund them, but if you provide the evidence that the insurance is under the buyers name, they may not.

Who knows with them.

Just hung up with Paypal and they agree that since the Buyer setup and paid for shipping it is their responsibility and the dispute should close in my favor.

They will also call FedEx to confirm that this person made a claim and it was paid. They said it is fraud. Maybe there is hope for paypal

Here is hoping that paypal follows through

Glad to see it should close in your favor. Thanks for info not to accept other members shipping label.

I used to operate a small dollhouse business; had a buyer pay for shipping and create a label for me and tried to scam both me and UPS. It was a very valuable lesson. These tend to be isolated situations and I had several
Others pay for labels without issue but after that instance I never used buyer provided labels again.

I’ve paid for many labels as a buyer because I have a Pirate Ship account and can often save a lot of money over standard rates. I’m not sure that’s the issue in and of itself. The root problem is you’ve apparently run into a scoundrel. How long have you been trying to make contact post-problem? The optimistic part of me— and mind you it’s a very small part— hopes they’re just out of town or something.

I hope you get your money back.
I am a new member and already bought 2 items.
They all arrived as agreed upon with the item as shown.

I was hesitant to use the marketplace but didn’t see much scamming, so I jumped in.

R2R is awesome and the community has been awesome and welcoming. Even with my panic questions and ignorance.

Fingers crossed you get y ok r money back.
That’s a lot of money but even a penny shouldn’t be stolen.

PayPals dispute process is terrible, and never seen it side with the seller. I know thats not useful just relating lol, hopefully it works out goodluck!

I’ve had it side with me quite often as a seller. More so when they were linked with eBay but they are no longer.

I did send all this info to paypal and they only care about if it was delivered or not so they are kind of useless. Paypal say the buyer is the one that should close the dispute. I have also sent screen shots to the buyer and no response.

Call. Don’t send. Call.

+1. I’ve also had decent luck with PP as a seller. But yes, calling is the way to go.

Sounds like you’re making progress. Since the buyer is obviously trying to scam you, their identity should absolutely be revealed.
I'm trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. but if I don't hear from him, I will reveal who it is so others don't have the issue.

My gut says he didn't start out to scam, but when the package was lost and filed a claim he may not have gotten all his money back from Fedex. He may be trying to collect from me but since there was no contact, I'm just guessing

Send me a message with the tracking info. I’ve got a friend who’s a manager at FedEx express. I’ll see if he can do anything with it.

1. Do not ship expensive items by Fedex ground, if you do , buy insurance. UPS is more reliable than Fedex ground, although UPS lost my packages, too. One year, I lost 20 iphones, and another time, they just delivered 2000 dollars merchandise to a wrong address and signed by someone else, and it took me almost a year through legal way to have the money back, but I also paid tons of attorney fees. Fedex Express is good, but not ground. Fedex Ground is cheaper than UPS ground, although.

2. You have to show Paypal that buyer agreed to use his label, from his account, for this shipment. As long as you can approve that, you will be good. However, you have to be patient with PayPal representatives, and really make them understand what happened.
3. Please share this guy with us. It is better to avoid him in the future.

Good luck

This is crazy but something about this doesn’t feel intentional to set this all up as a scam would take some serious work….. right??? especially if the package was lost in transit????
I agree, i don't think it was intentional, that why I am not blasting the guy.
I do have a problem with him not responding. I know he was on R2R yesterday and he never responded to my PayPal response or by email. Still a problem

I was thinking that too— it would be a pretty lousy scam to assume the item will be lost. But then I saw the amount was over $1,000. Someone could get greedy at that level (especially if able to double-dip), willing to give up credibility/an account on R2R.

I think this was either a crime of opportunity, or else we’ll hear some explanation from the person later.
