I had a similar issue a few years ago, I bought rocks, i paid for shipping and insurance and sent the seller the label. The rocks cam broken, so I made the claim with Fedex and got reimbursed, the seller kept their money, because it has nothing to do with them , I had made the seller aware throughout the process. If the buyer isn't responding , they could be looking to just get double reimbursement from you and Fedex.

Definitely report them here so they don't try this on others.

I guess I will never use someone else label if they offer. Never would have occurred to me what would happen if the package got lost.

Taking your money while also being reimburse from fedex for the items value is very dishonest.
Most people on R2R are honest, i have done it several times as a buyer is send my own label to the seller, as i pay for h shipping with my business account. Dont let one bad seed ruin your view of everyone, people who are looking to scam will scam no matter what, it is just what they do

Just hung up with Paypal and they agree that since the Buyer setup and paid for shipping it is their responsibility and the dispute should close in my favor.

They will also call FedEx to confirm that this person made a claim and it was paid. They said it is fraud. Maybe there is hope for paypal
That is great to hear, don't give up faith and know that most people on R2R are honest hobbyists

PayPals dispute process is terrible, and never seen it side with the seller. I know thats not useful just relating lol, hopefully it works out goodluck!
My experience is totally different. We have only lost 1 case as a seller in last 5 years.
It's all in the paperwork and how you detail your side of the story and also documents and proof you have.
Terms and conditions on the sale or website or invoice etc and or FAQ page on your website all comes into play.

To OP, I was in a similar situation with a wholesaler. I ordered a skimmer from a reputable manufacturer. Their shipping charges were double the cost of what I get from my carrier. So I emailed them a label. They shipped it. It got damaged through the shipping.
Manufacturer said it's not their fault as they didn't damage it. Which is true. So I had to file a damage claim through my insurance and show them replacement parts ordered invoice and get reimbursed for the damaged parts and also for shipping charges.
In my opinion whoever provides the shipping label needs to own it.

I did send all this info to paypal and they only care about if it was delivered or not so they are kind of useless. Paypal say the buyer is the one that should close the dispute. I have also sent screen shots to the buyer and no response.
I have also seen the lost package with thi g before with usps and it ended up getting delivered like a day or 2 later than it was supposed to

Update: Spoke to a paypal supervisor and I was informed that since the package was not delivered, the claim remains open. According to the supervisor, Paypals terms and conditions say that it is the sellers responsibility to insure that package arrives. Even though I didn't setup shipping it was my responsibility and I should file a claim with FedEx for insurance.

The loser was on R2R last night and I'm sure he read all of my communication and still no reply. I did give him a negative review. Pay for shipping yourself. Paypal is worthless when it comes to this.

I’m happy to say I have had good experiences with this forum and buying and selling items but thankyou for sharing this I’ve had people send shipping labels in the past but I’m definitely going to do my own shipping from now on

R2R should look into the user and kick them off the forum, we don't need people like that on here
Agree!! But kicking them won’t keep them out they’ll just make another account

it’s probably a lot for the mods to go through and investigate these also

Maybe a thread of shame???? lol

It's actually easier than you think to see if a banned account makes another one :)

FYI the reason for the post is I see nothing on R2R that would address something like this
It really doesn't have anything to do with R2R; you are just two people that met here.

If this was a car that you sold to someone you met in a McDonald's parking lot, and the deal went bad, would it be McDonald's fault?

All of this being said, no, I don't believe it is your responsibility. You've met your end of the contract; you shipped it and you can prove it.

If you are trying to resolve this with PayPal, I know you won't get anywhere through the website. Make a phone call to PayPal and speak to a real person.

I wouldn’t know lol but still it’s hard to police things like this how do you feel about this situation @Crabs McJones
It's unfortunate. One rule of thumb i always followed when selling was any account that is either A. New or B. Has a small handful of posts on here (especially if those posts are only in the marketplace) I pass. In this case if the person is blatantly scamming, the mods may step in and either restrict or remove the user in most cases.

We need the angry emoji for the post reaction. This is crazy! And sucks to hear! As stated above not only time as a member but also what kind of posts. And PayPal is Garbo too! They just don’t give two turtle poops about anything when it comes to the seller! The evidence can eat them in the face they would care less!
