I was thinking that too— it would be a pretty lousy scam to assume the item will be lost. But then I saw the amount was over $1,000. Someone could get greedy at that level (especially if able to double-dip), willing to give up credibility/an account on R2R.

I think this was either a crime of opportunity, or else we’ll hear some explanation from the person later.
if this turns out to actually be a pre meditated scam people got too much time on their hands like come on use these skills and time for something more positive

Yes but what was the chances it would have been lost for a scam to work . It probably wasn’t intentional until it came up missing if it was . But do we know that ? How long ago did this get lost ? Is PP going to reimburse seller ??

I may have said it poorly— I don’t think it could be premeditated (unless we have a conspiracy theory that someone at the shipper was involved… I’ll leave that to others). I’m saying that if someone was able to get a refund, or double refund, with this much money they might decide to hide, perhaps assuming the seller has no way to know what happened. Again, though, I’m hoping for an honest explanation. I’ve worried about similar situations before, and usually the problem was nothing more than lousy communication. I hope that’s the case.

I did NOT create the label. The Buyer did and Fedex emailed me the label. last show was in Ohio. the buyer has contacted Fedex and claims that it is lost. Package made it to California and then was returned to Ohio. Its lost for sure but in my opinion does that make me responsible since I did not setup shipping
Wait why was it returned back to Ohio am i missing something here

Contacted FedEx and the person filed a claim and already received the money!
Did you keep a copy of the FedEx label that you received? I can’t read any more because I think the problem was created to take advantage of FedEx insurance at your expense.

FedEx is probably aware that the “Buyer “ is a fraudster but they are unable to fix the problem without a lot of effort and so they allow the insurance to get beat( and you) because it s a cost of doing business
And investigation would increase their costs and not benefit them from doing the right thing.

I hope I am wrong but I believe that I have been taken before in a similar situation where I paid and got a broken skimmer and the shipper got repaid and didn’t refund me and ghosted me going forward.

Doesn’t matter what is wrong or right when the system is not interested in what is right.
Sorry

i think it was legitimately lost and the buyer filed a claim. no big deal! that is how it supposed to work. Involving Paypal and no communication give the impression that they are trying to double dip

Sorry to hear about the troubles! Hopefully it’s resolved in your favor.

I was recently scammed by someone on here who was a new member. My fault for overlooking the New Member but I did think the sale was fine… Not.

Unfortunately, I will not sell to anyone with a New Member badge from now on. I see the auto bot message after every sale thread so this tells me there is a welfare scratching reefer who is out to get every penny possible instead of putting all that effort into real work.

all I know is he filed a dispute Jan 6th with Paypal.
Jan 7th, he filed an insurance claim with FedEx.
FedEx issued a check Jan 17th for the full amount.

He should have updated Paypal. The only thing I can guess is that he is waiting to receive the check before he closes the Dispute. Still a Bad faith move since he setup shipping and insurance.
