Like the title says, does anyone have any overseas frag shipping experience? I had a person in the UK contact me about some acan frags and was wondering about the paperwork and redtape involved.

I would contact JUICE at Juicycorals. I know he mentioned something to me about shipping a package overseas somewhere. Can't remember where he shipped. He might has some information for you.

I have shipped zoa's there at there risk to my knowledge most stuff is illegal unless its rumble rock ware the zoa frags got buy as the weren't mounted but I put risk on buyer and made sure I had it in a email so they couldn't go back on me if they decided to keep there stuff or hold it once it got there.

Not sure on shipping, however I did have someone from Italy take back a bunch of SPS from me. He said that he had done it before. Customs check it and as long as the coral did not come directly out of the ocean its fine.

There's a lot of red tape involved if the corals are on the CITES list, like acans and chalices.
I've heard that you don't need CITES paperwork for shipping tank raised frags like zoos and ricordia, but you still need to get a wholesale export license ($100) in order to ship out. I was going to do it, but it was so much red tape and getting CITES paperwork back usually takes up to two months and costs $75 per permit.
The other problem is, a lot of wholesalers don't want to give you the CITES documentation with imported corals because they feel they are giving away their supplier. If you don't have the CITES documentation when you apply for the CITES to export then F&W won't approve your CITES.
The other option is to ship under the table in an unmarked box, just realize there are consequences if you get caught. Its easy enough to do though, customs doesn't open every box like they'd like to make you think. The bigger problem is shipping delays, cause many countries are a two day transit time. Whether you ship w/ permits or without its important to tell your customers that you won't be held responsible if their package is delayed.

Reef Goddess thanks for the information. After reading you post I have done some more research and you are right there is way too much red tape to make it feasible. ianiwane you need to do some more research from what I have read that is incorrect. Thanks for all everyone's input and I will pass the news on to the reefer in the UK.
