Should I still use my light?

Hi, I was just doing my weekly tank maintenance of a 10% water change, and testing the water. I noticed my nitrates were a lot higher than previous, about 60ppm. A little background is that Im getting a light (noopsyche k7 mini), and I have 3 fish. My tank is also a couple months old. I was just wondering should I set up the light once it gets here, or will the excess amount of nitrate cause a lot more algae than normal to appear?

Nutrients plus light equals algae. But if you want the lights on, turn them on. Personally I like to see my fish lol. But if the tank is a few months old, then the rocks might have matured enough to help against algae. However, 60 nitrates is kind of high, I would try to find the source and control that.

For the nitrates being so high, I ran out of frozen food at the beginning of the week, and I couldn’t get any until today. So I was feeding pellets the week. I think that was the cause, or at least I hope so

Also, because of this excess nitrate, should I increase the ramp up, and down time period?
