This crazy Hippo Tang sleeps in the intake to this wavemaker. Do I need to worry it is going to get sucked in and chopped to bits?

There is a deep channel and numerous caves in the aquascape.

It’s a 33 gallon tank. The hippo is about an inch long. The only other fish are a pair of clowns and a Midas Blenny. I am going to move him, and them, to a larger tank (90-100 gallons) in a month or so. He seems fine during the day. Swims and picks at the rock work and coral frag plugs. Only thing that worry’s me is where he sleeps.

Overflows can be dangerous to fish. If you are thinking he could be hurt then cover it. I used plastic grid from a hobby store once. Maybe try adding some black pvc elbows to the tank for it. Small ones. This is just my opinion. I am sure others will come up with different ideas

Glad you are planning to move them. ~30 gallons is way too small for a hippo. I’d made sure he can’t jump out for now and get him to the bigger tank as soon as you can. I suspect the odd behavior could be to space limitations and territory. It’s probably very stressed. IMO they need pretty much the same territory regardless of age/size to feel safe. What they do need as they grow is swimming space.

Would love to hear the delta in his behavior and personality once he’s moved! There’s like three threads ATM all talking about tang aggression, stress and tank size requirements so your observations would be really good to hear!
