Peppermint cyphastrea also located on the back wall:

Been looking everywhere to find a cyphastrea dominant tank and couldn't find anything.
Anyone have a Cyphastrea dominant tank or garden please show it off!!

Relatively new tank and frag. Not dominant or a garden (yet) but looking forward to more. The back wall idea is interesting. In a 20g that might be the only way I can go max cyphastrea.

I've got some bizarro cyphastrea coming in next week. Any suggestions on placement? I know they do fine in lower flow and lower lighting, but I run a somewhat dirty tank. I'm worried if the flow is low, they may get irritated by sediment and detritus. Is this a big issue with these corals?

And while I've got your ear, I'm also getting some leptoseris with this coral order. Again the same question. I've got two vacant spots in my tank with lowish flow and lowish lighting, but one of the spots seems a bit dirtier. Algae sometimes grows there and detritus can occasionally settle there.

I would like to know the answers to your question as well. I just placed an order of 10 cyphastreas from AquaSD they should come in next week. I called them about what PAR they keep them under and they said they don't have an exact number but they keep them around 175-250PAR with medium flow. I am going to start a cyphastrea garden and thats what led me to start this thread.

I dont have PAR numbers but I started mine on the sand and started to move it up after 2 weeks. It is sitting 2-3 inches off the sand bed and it took off so I left it. For flow it is sitting in medium to high flow, probably closer to medium. I run a "dirty" tank as well and it doesn't seem to bother the cyphastrea at all.

10 of them! You're starting to sound like a cyphaholic. You'll probably be able to contribute to this thread quite a bit in the next year or so.

How are your cyphastrea doing? I have two coming in the mail on Friday and have no idea where to put them. I was going to glue them to the front legs of my rock work but then people started telling me that it would take over the tank so now I’m concerned. I saw that some in this thread put theirs on the back wall. What are your thoughts now that you have had yours for a while?

First, very cool rock work. Really like the arches and platforms, and that it’s all elevated!

Try the back glass. Looks awesome. You prob wouldn’t care too much if it was on rocks also and grew large, as long as you picked a cool type to start. Or, if doing ricks, find a spot they like and let a few grow into each other? Or you can give them a small rock island. They don’t need much light.

I love cyphastrea, but my tank doesn’t seem to let them thrive.

Two years old. Started on a quarter sized plug. Now covers 1/2 of a 14 gallon bio cube. Took off under a Kessil 80 tunablue.

Took some time but it finally took off about a year ago and filled in nicely.
