I have finally joined the eel gang!
Meet Lil Sharpie the Skeletor eel. He is smaller around than a Sharpie marker (hence the name) and waaaaay too cute for his own good. He'll be living in his cookie jar for a few more months before he's too big to fit down the overflow box!
Super excited to join the eel gang. This has been a dream animal for almost a decade, so to finally find one was amazing. I've fed him two ghost shrimp since the 30th (the day I got him &my birthday) and he's also eaten a tiny piece of frozen scallop.

He's the first one I've seen in person in almost a decade! I had seen them sporadically for sale online up until about 2018, haven't seen one since until this guy turned up.

Right now I'm trying to lock down a shipper to ship me the Japanese Dragon Morey. Even though the suppliers have multiple sizes available, so far no one will commit to one of them that is less than 12". They have them in stock but wont commit to not sending anything bigger.

Here is my best commitment yet,
No guarantee due to constantly rotating inventory but we would try our best

but can't gamble, need a small one. You think for $1500.00 you could be assured of your size you receive if you're willing to wait, and put down a deposit for the size.

I guess I can play now too. I have this guy in an observation tank at the moment. It's been in there for about 3 weeks. Eating well, and just got a second ParaziPro dose today. Unless something goes sideways in the next week or so it'll get released into the DT. It's over 12" long, but not all that girthy yet. As much as it eats in a sitting, I suspect that will change soon.

Has anyone seen a black and white zebra moray eel? Most are brownish with white stripes but the one I have an opportunity to buy is white with black stripes. Wondering how rare of a color scheme this might be. I'll try to get a picture

Sounds reasonable. I pay more for a healthier animal. If it's been there for a while and it's eating it's probably worth it.

It's been there about 4 months and they say it's eating but I would want to see it eat first.

Sharpie has grown! He's not as big around as an actual sharpie and about 2" longer than before!
The spaces between his white spots are shrinking & he's beginning to get a bit of a golden hue on his nose. Still eats like a pig, just like from day 1.

This is Link our Chainlink Eel. He is about 9 inches long now. We have had him since January.

They are very similar in size and behavior to a Snowflake eel. At the end of last year, I searched and searched for either a Chainlink or a Skeletor eel but could not find any. I finally found two at a vendor in Florida and had them sent to our local fish store. I gave one to the owner for receiving and quarantining them for us.

We were having a tough choice picking which to keep then the larger one took a bite out of a small damsel so we took the smaller eel :) So far he has shown no interest in chomping on the other fish but it's supposed to be really out of character for them to be killers. The bigger guy must have just been hungry. I also don't think the lady feeding them was using tongs which could have contributed to the attack. Just like Snowflakes they don't see too well and they get excited when they smell food in the water. If you don't put food right in front of them they go hunting for it and I'm pretty sure the damsel was an accident by a hungry eel just looking for the krill she tossed in.

Someday I'll get a good picture of our Snowflake in our other tank but he's shy. Every time I get the camera he retreats into his cave :)
