Many have said that Reefbreeder Photon V2/V2+ light can grow sps really well. I want to know if the Photon can compete with the Radion in growing and coloring up sps.

Please show us sps (or SPS dominant) tanks that use the Reefbreeder Photon V2/V2+

I’m running 48” photon v2, along with 4 bulb t5 retrofit. It’s a great budget led, and can totally get the job done... but comparing directly to radions is a stretch. Also, color and growth is dependent on so many other factors besides lighting.

Awesome tank!! I've been running a 48" V2+ for the last six months and loving it so far. Care to share your lighting schedule and intensity for the Photon's? According to my par meter, they put out some serious power.

They definitely have plenty of power. I run them at 50% blues 8% white/red/green, with the t5s that gets me around 350-400 par along the top of the scape. I run the t5s 8 hours, 12 hour total photoperiod

Thanks, I may need to switch my schedule so that I'm running maximum intensity for at least 4-6 hours. At the moment, I'm following one of the recommended settings (looks like an arc), so corals only get an hour of max intensity, but growth has been fairly slow despite the high par. May be that the corals just needs the higher par for a longer duration.

Thanks. Hope to get more sps tanks with these Reefbreeder Photon V2/V2+

By the way, I just ordered the 16 inch version for my 20 gallon tank that is 24 inches long.

I am replacing my single Radion XR30 Gen 4 with it. I hope to improve the coverage since the Photon has a larger dimension and the LED spreads out more than being in a Puck position seen in the Radion.

I hope that it is an upgrade rather than a downgrade going from Radion to the Photon for an SPS tank.

With a larger foot print than Radions the Photon should be the better light for SPS
