Planing on getting both 1st and second chamber media baskets. On the second, I was thinking of putting a refugium, but I was also thinking that I could put the fug in the first chamber by the surface skimmer so the cheato can roll. But then mechanical filtration will take out the copepods. Maybe I'm the second I could put a little pump to roll the cheato? I'm a little stuck...

+/- 4 ish gallon per week water change with vacuuming the sand bed. I have a very high bioload for the tank size, but no problem algae and the water change is only 15 minutes or so tops.
The only other thing I do is throw out and replace the little piece of filter floss in the top of the intank tower twice a week. That only takes about 30 seconds since the pad size is half of the pads in the intank pads for my jbj 45.

Question for those of you with the Current lights. I just picked one up recently and set it up last night. To me, so far it doesnt seem as bright as the stock light. Im new to this so maybe brightness doesnt mean as much if the quality of light is better. I know there are better options out there, but this had decent reviews and I wanted to try and keep the lid.

I also liked the features and the new loop system. Im going to keep it on for a few weeks and see how things go but was thinking of maybe using both the stock and the current.

Also are most of you using just the default program or a modified one?

Im hoping this is going to be sufficient for what I am keeping. My test right now is to see if it will restore color to my torch. Which is growing but brown and has no real pop to it.

Any advice?

Anyone have a pic of your Fluval 13.5 where you've removed the honeycomb from around the DT area of rim? the prints on mine peel with a bit of salt build up...even the gentlest of wipes with a very wet cloth will peel it. Complete shame.

So rather than having the tank look worn with spots of peeled prints, I may just take a rzazor blade and scrape it off completely. Would love to see a pic if you have do so to your tank

Wanted to post an update pic. See if anyone had some critique or whatever. Been running since late march. I posted in april during my diatom bloom. Just re-scaped the other day after making a mess of things.

Think its going well so far. Just added the current ic led lights. Was going back and forth. I know the kessils and AIs are better but wanted to keep the top as best as possible (have a curious 2.5 yr old)

Just did another little mod, I glued a piece of acrylic inside the middle chamber to force more water through my diy filter basket. So far it seems good. I was getting a lot of "stuff"in the chambers. Been pretty clean since then even with the recent mess I made.

Curious if any of you Evo peeps have upgraded the return pump and if you're liking what you chose. The stock pump just isn't cutting it really and I'd love to upgrade to something with a little more power. Would love to hear if any of you love what you've upgraded to!
