Showcase Fish advice

Hi guys, looking for a showcase fish and I know what I would love to put in my tank though know I cant because of the size of the tank (would love a Tang) so current stocking

Tank Redsea 200XL

2 x Damelfish
2 x Ocellaris Clown fish
1 x Sailfin Blenny
2 x Cleanershrimp
1 x Yoshi Goby
1 x Pistol Shrimp
CUC

Asking for advice rather than getting tempted at my LRS

I love my pair of coral beauties. Biota and ORA both produce captive bred fish that are less likely to nip corals. They are beautiful and very active - zipping around and through and under rocks, picking at algae.

I would also say a dwarf angel, always busy and active.

Tomini Tangs are quite lovely and would do well in your tank...they don't get huge and don't do the incessant bolting across the front of the tank. Or a Kole Tang. Just a thought!

I also have a biota coral beauty and second that. Vibrant color and mine hasn’t even looked at coral.

Your tank is small, I would consider removing the damsels. Which species of damsel do you have? I would recommend several Flasher wrasses: Diamond Tail Flasher, Yellowfin, and McCosker. One Flame Angel.
Removal of the damsels is due to the fact that you cannot keep that many fish in your tank, which is wasted (IMO) in keeping damsels. Some species of damsels can really be a pain due to their aggressiveness.

Thanks very much for all the replies I’m looking through all the fish listed, the Blue Damselfish(Chrysiptera cyanea) are currently very small though i will take your advice and return them to my LRS

My opinion on tangs or dwarf angels for your tank is that your tank is two feet long and not suitable for tangs or dwarf angels.

IMO, any tang will get too large. The mallets angle like Cherub Angel is OK but they are aggressive little fish.

Personally, I don’t think there’s any better showcase fish than a flasher wrasse. I’m not sure about your tank dimensions, so I don’t know if one would work for you though. Royal grammas are pretty and always out and about too.

Ok Tangs were never on my list I understand my tanks not large enough, I have upgrade in mind 2021 Redsea 250 or maybe 350 if I can put my wife's head in a balaclava

That's great. A Reefer 250 is 3' long and opens you up to flashers, certain fairy wrasses, and some of the pygmy angels (flameback, cherub, etc).
