(Black clown in video)

Captured from residential tank on 02/06/22

Since Day 1 of observation period:
- always swims vertical in the corner
- Cannot close it’s mouth
- hole in the side of it’s mouth
- breathing fast
- swims upside down during feeding time when the flow is off…

Fish has been in QT tank without treatment now for 9 days with no evident signs of change good or bad…

What do you think this could be???

Please help…

Blue photos are so hard to diagnose anything :(

Did you purchase it with these mouth issues? Sometimes captive clowns have a bad overbite.

No other noticeable symptoms. No light on QT tank, when I tried a flashlight it reflected off glass too much. Room lights are on… ‍♂️ I got him from someone getting out of the hobby. Parameters are fine and so are the other 7 fish in the QT tank so it’s not the tank…

To my eye, both clowns have issues, what I term "mopey"....swimming poorly with their fins clamped. This isn't a symptom of any one disease, just of an unhappy clownfish.

You say these came from another person's aquarium? How long did they have them?

Not sure how long they had them, but yes they came from a nice tank with established QT practice… I’m wondering if this one may have gotten stung by a coral and has a swollen face or if maybe it was injured during capture or what is going on with it… I’ve been observing him prior to beginning copper and unsure of what to do for it…

Unlikely to be a coral sting, clowns are pretty resistant, living in anemones like they do.

I think they both have an issue, one just worse than the other.

It could be the start of Brooklynella, do you have access to formalin or rally pro?

I don’t have those on hand, but can order if needed. I can place the 2 clowns in a tank by themselves and proceed accordingly. Do you recommend a treatment?

Previous owner said he has had the clowns for 2 years… Can Brook go dormant and then return due to stress?
