I have a 150gal salt water with side sump. I only have a couple clowns an anemone and a snowflake eel. I need help getting water into my sump at a faster rate. I don’t want to use two pumps and water does flow from the aquarium to the sump but it is slow and I can’t get the return pump to match the flow perfectly and need to keep adjusting it. I ordered a 1045gbh pump that’s half the size of my current pump and that will help with return flow but how do I get my water from the tank to the sump faster? Is it better to use a larger hose or add an additional overflow box that hangs of the back and automatically drains onto the sump when the water is at the right level? I am new to the hobby and have run this funky current system for 1 year with minimal issues.

It might be helpful to post a picture of the tank and sump.
In a normal set up a bigger pump will force more water into the tank from the sump. However you maybe restricted because the overflow can only handle so much flow.

Please excuse the state of my aquarium it’s in rough shape just coming out of black out stage for algae control.
