So, was emptying my skimmer bucket earlier and thought to myself that we all show off the sexy parts of our tanks all the time, but the nasty stuff can be just as important.

With the way we all run different skimmers and at different levels on our systems, maybe we show what we're pulling from our systems with different skimmers at different levels given our bioloads? Might help some folks dial in their skimmers to what they want. I'll start:

Skimmer:Reef Octo Regal 250

Pump speed (if variable):100%

Water level: 3/4" from the bottom of the cup

Stocking: 42 fish in a 365 gallon system (180 gallon Display). Medium coral load.

Feedings: 12-15 small feedings times daily. 1 large feeding daily.

Skimmate Volume: Emptying about 1/2 gallon dark skimmate per week.

(If yall think of more relevant info to add. Feel free to add it)

mine looks pretty sludgy too, but I only have 12 fish in a 150 Gal. I do 2 feedings a day, so im producing about a 2 cups per week. It's thick though! Nice topic. I like that i get to see other people's dirt and compare.

Now if only we could have a "scratch 'n sniff" to truly capture the experience...

I didn't realize we were including oil spills... ick! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
You get bonus points for your sump!
Oh my sump is a disaster, lol. Fish room as a whole is cramped but ok, lol. The sump is just full of pumps as a hub to distrubute water around to all the tanks, haha.

Mine look pretty much like what you folks have and come with a crazy rotten egg smell. I always wonder why some reefers believe no skimmer and no water change. I believe the heavy in and heavy out to have healthy fish and coral :)

I empty about a gallon every other week.

Bubble magus curve 5 elite
Pump speed 100%. AC sicce PSK pump
I adjust so the foam starts right where the neck of the cup meets the body.
80G display with 30G sump. Roughly 85G total system volume with 14 fish.

No pics as I just dumped and cleaned it yesterday.

Great thread topic BTW!

I would love to, but my 4 month old bubble magus is more of a paperweight than a skimmer.
