skimmer float switch wiring/connector

I want to add a float switch to my skimmer cup lid with apex bob, and want to be able to easily disconnect for cleaning. I haven’t seen any clear answers on using connectors for this, any reason it wouldn’t work? I know basically nothing about electrical/wiring... float switch has 22awg wire, would it be ok to use a connector with 16awg wire?

This will be fine 16 gage wire is larger than 22 gage. There's only a very small current in the wires for the apex to tell wether the connected switches are open or closed.

Definitely will work. Going to the thicker wire on the connector is fine; you just wouldn't want to go the opposite (16awg wire to a 22awg connector).
