So I left and my tank skimmer was fine. I come back and its going crazy, I mean Its pumping out foam like crazy. I took out the pvc pipe that restricts how the water level and its still filing up a collection cup in 30 seconds. Nothing was added but it wont stop foaming like this regardless of what I did. Any ideas on what happened or what to do?

Check to see any corals died (could be due to hot weather) , check your top off
What kind of skimmer it is ? SWC?

Check your airline for blockage, I have had mine get stopped up with gunk and a snail shell in the venturi before.

Its a BK mini all fish and coral look good. Ill take a closer look I have hundreds of corals but everything looks fine. Even have head count on fish and all of them look happy and fine.

Air line is clear, I mean if it was clogged it would stop foaming though. Mine is going crazy.

I had a similar problem recently, in which my skimmer overflowed due to a combination of too much top-off water, heavy frozen food feeding, and barometric fluctuation. About five days worth of seriously nasty nog overflowed back into the sump, which then caused the skimmer to foam up like nobody's business even when the restrictor pipe was wide open. I had to perform a sizable water change and lower the water level in the sump until enough evil humors had been skimmed out, and then it returned back to the normal sane state of skimming.

I think thats what happened because i lost about five days of nogg too. What caused the initial overflow though?

By chance did you use any new epoxy in the last 24 hours? A similar thing happened to a friend a couple of months ago. Same deal - overflowing like crazy and everything looked good. He used some D&D Epoxy the day before. Traced it back and I guess it's a known fact that type of epoxy can (but not always) cause a reaction like this. Problem dies down after 24-48 hours. A long shot, but thought I would mention it...

I had the power got out for an hour the wife say's while i was gone.. the rise in sump level pushed out the nogg and went nutz for 3 days before it calmed down!! I would pull the plug on your cup and let it work its self out.. Gl

I had the same thing happen when a small hermit crab got stuck inside the venturi
I had to remove the skimmer from the sump to get it out.
I had so much bubbles that look like my 4 yr old's bubble bath
