Skimmer options

hey guys , im in the process of trying to get a new skimmer , i have my mind on the "Skimz sk181 cone" and the "Bubble Magnus Nac9"
i need a small foot print skimmer due to lack of space in my sump

most of my sump is refugium space , .... i have a 220 gallon system , medium to heavy bio load , and plann on having heavy in the future either way , so i need a skimmer that will keep up with my tank :)

as of now i run a ASM G3 , and i hate it , ive owned 2 diffrent asm skimmers before and they both are just not heavy duty skimmers , i also owend a reef octopus xs160 the red version , it was an amazing skimmer on my 150 but now that i have a bigger tank i need a bigger skimmer as well... any info or help would be much appreciated thank you

I recommend NextReef Skimmers. They can be mounted externally too so you don't even to take up space in your sump.

thanks for the welcome.... i have about a 13x13 area max for a skimmer , ill look into the nextreef skimmers , need something no more than $400 and up to 300 gallons due to bio load of my 220 and sump is 40-50 gallon

I think your best bet is to find a used XP5000 sss, WM MF251 cone or cylinder or a used swc230 cone with that size of skimmer footprint, price and ability. Its going to be tough to find one for that price though. Maybe even a external beckett would work.

do you not think the bubble magnus nac9 or the skimz sk181 will take care of my tank ... wich one out of those 2 skimmers is best on a 220 gallon medium bio load

Neither imo. They are both to small. You only want to buy something once so i wouldn't suggest either or.

why is the nac9 rated for 530 gallons if its too small for a 220 gallon tank ? not arguing , just asking , i honestly know nothing about skimmers other than its your brain and heart to your tank! lol

Totally overated, pulls around 1000lph air, moves around 600gph water, pry works fine for a 90-150g display. Thats all i'll say about that guy. I think you need more around 1500-2000lph air and 800-1000gph water through for that size of tank if your planning a good bioload.

dang , well i deffinatley cant afford any of the ones you stated earlier lol ... but ill keep looking and come across something good , the sump space is what kills me. thanks for your help and time

i went ahead and ordered the reef octopus super reef 3000 with the bubble blaster pump ... ill post how it works after ive had it running for a good month

Why dont you look up the Super Reef Octopus space saver skimmer. SRO with the bubble blaster pumps are great skimmers.
