Skimmer performance Slows after a few days

It seems my skimmer does awesome for 3-4 days. Once the neck gets dirty I feel like everything gets trapped there. Should I just skim more wet to solve this problem?

The only other solution is to clean out the cup/neck more often.

It's an MSX 200 with BB3000 pump.
 
I run into the same issues if I skim really dry. Skimming wet fixed the issue. Now I clean the skimmer about once a week and it works great.
