Hi,
I have made the first chamber as refuge with like 15-17% of the water volume to go with triton method. I am trying to save some space like 10 cm length for last section to hold RO water and to do that, I will need to narrow the skimmer section and with the life reel skimmer, I can relocate the pump so I was wondering if I can put the pump in the refuge section and add some grills to protect it from pulling algae and clog.

Would that be a bad idea and why?

Thanks in advance

Re
No, this would not be ideal. The design of the second chamber is to act as a protein trap but if your pump for the skimmer is pulling from the refugium then you will not be able to optimise its efficiency.
Following is a link the new updated version of our "Guide to the TRITON Method" explaining everything in more detail:

Yeah I came to the same conclusion at the end after some extra reading and discussions.
I managed to find a better way for the sump in general.
Thanks for the feedback
