I'm looking for an efficient quiet skimmer for my 75 DT plus 30 sump. The only noise I can hear on the tank is the overflow and I'd love to keep it that way. I was looking at the Reef octopus 150int as it seemed to have pretty good reviews and wouldn't break the bank. Any suggestions?
The ATB Nano One would do a good job and be super quiet.

I have an innovative marine ghost skimmer midsize for my IM 40gal Nuvo. It is pumping micro bubbles like crazy into my tank. Any suggestions?

When your skimmer is too large it will have a large neck as well. You simply wont get the organics needed to make the foam head to fill the neck or it will take some time. So you get sludge in the neck and never in the cup. just not the ideal setup.
Try to size accordingly so you dont wast your hard earned $$ on something you dont need.

Mojo~
Thxs very helpful hint !!!

Good morning everyone. Would appreciate thought on a skimmer for my system. I'll have a 145 gallon tank, plus 75 gallon sump and 45 gallon frag tank. The system is predominantly SPS with med-heavy fish load. Finally, I'd like to look at something besides a pinwheel driven skimmer.

I appreciate any thoughts anyone might have as to some skimmers j might consider.

Edit to add, I can do internal or external. Internal space is about 17 x 18 +/-.

Thanks!

As far as ATB Skimmers, I would look at the ATB 1050a Skimmer.

I have one on a similar system and it works great!

Question:

Would an oversized skimmer work efficiently on a nano tank which is much smaller than what it is rated for?

Yes, but there may be times where there is nothing to skim out of the tank.
Saying that, I would not run a skimmer rated for 600gal on a 25 gal. I would run one rated for 100 to 150 on a 25 or 30 gal.
My Frag tank is a 40gal with 25-30gal sump and I run a skimmer rated for 150gal.

I have a 40br with an ATB 840 skimmer running on it. Way overkill but it was left over from a tank tear down. Still get plenty of dark skim

Looking for skimmer options- DT will be 180g, I will have a 250 gallon storage tank circulating through the system to add stability and around a 50 gallon sump. All equipment will be in the garage away from the DT so I should have enough room for any skimmer (within reason). Couple of questions:
What would be a great, high end skimmer for this size system? In-sump or external? I would prefer external just to keep it cleaner. Looking to spend around 1k for it but could do more if needed (certainly less $$$ would be better). Would also like the option of neck and cup cleaner. Bubble king, vertex?
Thanks for the input.
