First, I think I’ve nailed my little Dino attack. Haven’t seen much.

Next. Been running a Octopus BH1000 on my 75 gal for about 3 weeks now. It’s cranking out dark water like crazy. Empty it every day or two. So it’s working. However, I don’t have very many fish and I feed maybe once a day at most. Usually once every two days. Shocked at all that is coming out.

Now my question is, my tank is hazy. Not nearly as clear as before I added the skimmer. I wouldn’t say it’s cloudy, but just hazy...but most I’ve seen in almost 2 years. I’ve got a marineland 350, but had two. Took one down for the skimmer.

I thought the skimmer would help clear the water?

I’ve added “clarity” to the tank and I have micro floss/pillow stuffing I’m using in the marinelands too. No real help.

Paremeters all fine.

Ever since adding better lights, and now the skimmer, my tank has had a number of issues. Getting bummed after dumping $500 more.

Thanks.

Could it be micro bubbles from the skimmer? They can be hard to see and can make water hazy.

I can certainly understand that, but how do I fix that?
Thought it might be a bacteria bloom but I am running a UV filter.

I thought carbon filters were the key to making the water "clearer"

What type of filter that takes charcoal do you have? Have you swapped it out lately? Is it big enough for your tank?

I run a marineland 350. Changed carbon 2 weeks ago.

Had two marineland 350 but took one down to add skimmer as suggested here. Wonder if that did it. Or it’s microbubbles. I don’t know how to get the microbubbkes out.

Make sure your return pump inlet in the sump is not near the skimmer discharge - micro bubbles can make the water appear hazy. Running carbon?

Okay.
I do have carbon. If I lower the discharge box, I’m emptying daily. Is that right? Sometimes twice as I’ve had it overflow a couple times.
