I know the Seaclone skimmer is not the best. It’s a little loud but it’s all I have for now. My question is, when I turn it on in the morning it skims good then by about 2pm there is no more in the cup. The next morning the same. It skims good about half the day then mid afternoon no more in the collected cup. My chemistry is good except for crazy high phosphates which I’m working on. I have a 3 on my Red Sea nitrate test. Could it be that there are no nutrients left to skim? It’s a 40 gallon mixed reef.

thanks for your help

Not so much no nutrients but what makes for a better skimmer is that it can keep producing bubbles at lower nutrient rates because bubbles need nutrients to grow and there are all sorts of mechanics to how to make that work better.

Why are you turning it off?
