Maintenance on the super loud CaRX. Impeller is almost destroyed from the sand like material of melted media.

Pulling out effluent with a peristaltic pump and/or pushing through with an impellor pump would avoid the issue of wear on the impellor.

Not sure how that would effect the impeller on the recirculating impeller pump for the reactor

Sorry, didn't spot it recirculates. So yeah, it won't help. The recirculating would have to be done with a peristaltic pump to eliminate impeller wear and probably isn't feasible.

How do you keep up on the sand? Make it all pretty for pictures or are there some cucumbers hiding?
Well two things. Vacuum the sand often and always take photos when the lights first come on and the sand looks pristine! Also the algae on my sand is off and often. Almost seems seasonal.
