Snails that don't knock stuff over?

Anyone have suggestions on snail species that don't bulldoze through obstacles and knock everything over? Mainly searching for algae eating/herbivorous types. Macroalgae safe is a bonus.

Aquacultured Stomatella snails would probably be the best fit for your snail requirements.

Mostly all snails will still do some form of it. I have yet to find ones that don’t.

I have found cerith snails to be generally pretty good at not knocking stuff over. Stomatellas are also great.

Nassarius are excellent sand bed cleaners but they do bulldoze everything.

Well, there are these extremely small snails that look like mini turbo snails, but they are each the size of a pinhead, so maybe not the best option. Stomatella snails I have found are the best ones to keep, and they multiply quickly in captivity.

I've had almost every kind of snail in my tank, and while a couple have been "bull in a china shop" like, I've never actually had any real issues... Whats happening?

Certiths are good workers and low risk of this.

Nassarius and Mexican Turbo's should be avoided.

Tongan nassas are smaller and thus less capable of knocking stuff around

I think snails in general just don’t really care about avoiding bumping into stuff, so opting for smaller snails can help. There are several different kinds of ceriths and they get to different sizes, from way small all the way up to “wow that’s a snail??”

That said I have generally had the best luck with dwarf trochus snails in terms of both being excellent algae grazers and also generally not knocking anything around in the tank

Ceriths are really good too but scarlet reef hermits like their shells so it can be a match made in the kitchen so to speak lol

Genuinely you don't want to know I don't know what kind of snails came on my rock they are literal bulldozers. Literally knocking over glued down frags I don't even know how. They are hitchhikers from some rock that I received. They are freakishly large. Honestly I'm not even sure they are snails. I might have to make an ID post. Looks unlike anything I've witnessed before.

What snails bull dozes ?
Even my big turbo snail don’t do such thing. Lol. He have tried killing himself a couple times by climbing out though lol.
It’s not their natural behavior. They’re too slow and just doesn’t have the strength.

Smaller astrea snails like most I see available for sale are working for me. They're cleaning plugs and tiles in my sps tank now. I even have a few larger ones that don't knock stuff over. Trochus snails also did well but they kept climbing out of my rimless tank and the dog would carry them all over the house.

Same.. My grandson came running out the other day and said something from the tank was crawling across the floor and there it was crawling across the dining room. I have three almost the size of a tennis ball and keep then in a tank with a eurobrace but had moved this one over temporarily.
