Snowflake eel top

So I'm preparing for a new edition to for my new tank..a snowflake eel. I've been doing a ton of research and I just have one question. Everywhere I read it says to have a tightly fitted top. But What kind of tops are you using? Egg crate? Which is what I had it mind and already have. Glass? I have a metal halide so I don't want it to be sealed. Thanks in advanced!
