I love my hitchhikers from Tampa Bay Saltwater!! I was up late and examining my tank after lights out and saw this thing sticking out of a rock filter feeding. Could be wrong but I don’t think it’s a worm; looks more like a tiny sea cucumber. The body is squishy (not a hard tube) and has little black spikes. And then a bazillion tentacles on the head that I assume catches microscopic food.

Any ideas??

Cucumaria piperata?

The tentacles look wrong but then again this one is still a tiny baby.

I enjoyed inspecting my TBS live rock after lights out, so many cool things to see!

Right? I sit there for like an hour every night spotting all the cool (and not so cool) creatures 😁

Nine months later, I’m still finding new weird things popping out. I have Indonesian, but same, just different hitchhikers. I recently found two chitons recently appeared, and I have an oyster or some type of bivalve that started out as a spec and is now almost a centimetre. The diversity and how things appear after months is remarkable to me.

That’s so cool that it’s grown that much! I’m not sure if many people care about the tiny hitchhikers but I think is fascinating
