So Harvey gave us an inch of water and we have to replace our flooring. Currently I have a 120g with a beautiful stand and a frag tag tied to the sump. This 120 g is third hand; the front glass panel had been broken and replaced, was not drilled and has a siphon overflow, and has a lot of ugly scratches on the side panels. For the sake of honesty, the siphon overflow has worked pretty well. It hasn't overflowed and you can always tell if there's an issue if you look at your tank every day because there will be a film on the water if the siphon isn't working well. But I think the flow isn't very good. It could be getting better filtration through the sump. Also, I'm getting some salt creep at the bottom edges of the tank, and I'm scared the second hand glass work could fail. Soooo.... I'm getting a new tank! An LFS near me, The Fish Bowl, was having it's one year relocation party/sale last weekend and I got a great deal on a new tank! It's being built by Planet Aquariums,72x18x25 (to fit my beautiful stand), a 20" ghost overflow and external drain box, and dual returns. I can't wait!
Meanwhile, I've set up a 75g lent to me by my buddy at All About Fish and am about to transfer all my stuff (minus a bunch of rock that have toxic palys growing on them -hammer time!) into it so that we can tile the floor where the tank belongs.
And I'm treating cyano!
A lot of work going on over here (thank God we didn't have to tear out sheet rock! I have friends who are living in a house of 2x4 studs) and a lot of other normal life stuff as well.
Feeling blessed and stressed, lol.

@Texas Reefer :

So glad to hear some 'positives' from Harvey. 1" in Friendswood was 'fortunate' as well compared to some we know that measured water in their home in feet. I am just across 45 from you in Clear Lake -- and I haven't heard of The Fish Bowl! Will have to check it out some time - so much of the SW / Reef shops are out West and North of us so happy to see another down our way.

Best of luck in your Harvey recovery and new tank adventure!

I posted a pic of the temp tank which shows all the live rock I have. For the new tank I know I'll need more. Can I use dry rock to avoid a cycle, or is rock that has been cycling at the LFS a better idea?

Nail biting! I ordered the Synergy Reef 16" overflow and want to get it plumbed today with a bean animal. I ordered as much pre-cut 1.5" red plumbing as they offer on their site, and 1.5" red from BRS, along with all the fittings. My returns are 3/4" violet pvc. Today I want to get the overflow plumbed and am reviewing the videos. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well. I took the top cap off my unions before pvc-ing and didn't put them back on. So had to cut two of my unions off and will now have to wait for new unions. Lesson #1.
Now I will have extra gaskets for the future.

Got the new tank in December. Still working on the plumbing. Got a new skimmer, the Bubble Magus Curve 7. Had to rebaffle the sump for the bigger skimmer.

The tank on the stand, with some additional dry rock that has been curing for months now. BRS Reef Saver.
