I saw a thread recently that caused me to take a deep dive into Hawaii collection laws. You can TOTALLY take a vacation to Hawaii and collect marine fish. Not sure if Canadian customs cares, but here in the US and A, this is okay.

When I transition to a much larger tank in the future, I plan to take a collection vacation. Maybe alone. Ahh to spend time alone. A man can dream.
Also do you have a build thread or images of your tank Chrisv? Would love to see.

Considering mine cost me a hefty $150 for a quarter sized captive bred specimen, I think $300 for a full grown adult is a fair price. By quarter sized, I mean literally the size of a US quarter, possibly a 50 cent piece...

He has grown considerably since I got him, and is most definitely the showpiece of my 55

Oh my, I have always wanted! I'm a scuba diver, and Keys/ Bahamas are my usual easy spots to get to, but importation here is from what I know a serious challenge unless you are a licenced retailer.
Cool! I dive too! I used to spend every Dec 27-jan2 in key west for scuba and poor behavior.

Nothing like seeing the reefs in person.

Ok here are a couple quick pics... don't really have anything to show scale against. He, she is easily triple in size or even more...

Just a few pics from today.... Monti is still gradually growing ever so slow, small bleached birdsnest in same frame, I still see the tents out? Or is it my eyes and just get rid of the thing?
Deuce is out and about as boss, and Long Tent Nem now in this spot steady for about 4-5 months. So assumed happy. Nitrates and Phos steady as a rock....keep doing what I'm doing lol.
Oh and anyone need some Xenia lol? My word....

I purchased about 20 years ago, they have kinda ebbed and flowed, but keep hanging in there. I think they were simply called 'Green Mushroom' back then? I think @Sleeping Giant has same species if I recall? He may know the definitive....

We've made the move! A bit stressful as I tried a different brand of putty Seachem 'Coral Crete' ?....my word, just terrible, it essentially disintegrates after mixing together and flies all over the tank , zero hold. Back to my usual pink colored stuff next time. So went with basic super glue gel instead and all good, will reinforce with a bit of putty later. Duncan is about half normal size, but seems to be adjusting. Sorry for the crappy image but my glass begs for its usual attention every 3 days lol.
Side note, counted the heads finally on this little beast as it was retracted. 42??? For those that are in the know, is fragging it a good choice for its health at this point? Any advice appreciated.

If you do frag, I would love some. Your tank looks great.

I do have the same "green mushrooms" I got them locally, no name. So I use the same term, Green mushrooms. Lol

Thanks much! I haven't in past but I think need to start lol. The Duncan if it returns to previous form ( its getting there slowly) would probably be a candidate. It's got 40 someodd heads on it. When I do I'll happily send some your way. Want some Xenia? Lol....man alive, its becoming rather invasive. Actually setting up a small Nano for my niece/ nephew over Christmas, so will seed a bit of it there.... anything else you see you want I can likely frag it. No problem.

I would love that. No I'm good with Xenia, I had so much, I started a 20 gallon just to move some, lol I put a rock with chocolate chip zoas and a boatload of sponges in there too. Everything is growing, but at a slower pace.
I love those pinkish mushrooms by the nem, I had some but they melted when I had a salinity issue

I've never actually made one! I'm actually in the process of setting up one of these mini peninsula 15 gallon AIO tanks from water box. Maybe I will make a build thread.

I have sold my soul to the blue light club.

I don't have many FTS photos but here are a few of specific corals:

Love the zoas
Thanks! Those are actually for the 15 gallon Peninsula build. I had made it like 25 years and never had a zoa garden and a guy in my local club had a bunch for sale at a great price, so I set up a zoa pico. But now I need it to be a zoa nano. Zoanthids, it turns out, are addictive.

You’ve got some beauties in there !

I’m debating whether I’ll transfer my 3 xenia frags into my display tank. Do they tend to stay in one spot when they start spreading ?

I wish I could get some frags from you. I studied at Lethbridge University for a year. Is that close from where you live ?

Ya they gonna spread like wildfire if they like the enviro you provide them, so It's really up to you that way.

I'm in Ontario , but funny enough you mention Lethbridge University! My cousin was the head coach of their hockey team till they scrapped it last year unfortunately.

I'll get a few to ya, if you want em. They are always doing fairly well. You just pay the ship, and no charge.
