That's good. Most people can't get them to live for that long.
i think ive gotten lucky, however one of them seems to be going. Losing interest in eating... might take it over to the 10 gal and treat it.

Here's the deal.

You can do lots of stuff without using the proper steps. You can paint a room without primer first. Close DOES count with hand grenades. You don't *have* to quarantine fish... But just because you can, and can successfully I might add, doesn't mean it's BETTER than doing things right.

Skimmers do a lot more than just clean the water. I would argue using a skimmer and just leaving the cap off so it doesn't actually skim would have a huge positive impact on your tank.
