Glad to hear overall things are doing good! Sorry to hear about the losses, what do you think could have caused the sudden phosphate drop? Do you think that due to the greater coral feeding response on day 4, the corals could've stripped the water too fast? Do you use Gfo or carbon?

I like to mix my portion of the concoction with my daily fish feed for the tanks and feed the systems throughout the day. This way, there is always something in the water
Not sure what would have caused such a sudden drop, but I'm glad I didn't let things ride and noticed it on time. Do you think the bacterial aspect of V3 could cause the phosphate to drop? I suspect somehow the phosphate is getting skimmed out via bacteria. I use RowaPhos in a bag and I had not changed it out in 3 weeks, so i doubt it would be the cause. I want to stop using Rowa if my phosphate stays the way it has been but i'm scared :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

That's a great idea for round the clock feeding, i think i'm going to try to set up one of my GHL dosing heads to do this sometime soon. Thank you!

I've completely discontinued Rowaphos, just too risky to use in such a demanding system. Rowa may be better in a less demanding reef, but my acros consume so much and I would rather not deal with self-induced RTN events anymore lol
Phosphate export through bacteria is definitely possible, and if you've seen a dramatic increase in skimmate production then it may be a large vector of export for your system. You can adjust to run a dryer skimmate, I have done this so that I can keep higher a higher concentration of food particulates in the water. I use a bubble king supermarin 200, and the riser tube gets caked with a few millimeters of crud daily.

The gonis have been in the tank since the first acro was put in, since the beginning of March. I’ve experienced this rapid phosphate depletion once before when I started moonshiners. Luckily I didn’t lose any gonis. In my tank, it seems that if there isn’t a constant source of food in the form of phosphates available, the gonis get upset.

I think it’s a combination of the skimmer pulling phosphate out and consumption. I just did my alk test and the consumption is up again!!! Now it’s a 0.5 deviation from my normal 8.0 dkh. My calcium consumption is up too! I checked everywhere for precipitation, including my sump, I see none so it seems my consumption has increased since starting V3. I think my corals are hitting the turbo boosters after 3 months of the shine and starting the V3.

everything looks happy as hell! I’m uploading a video I took on day 3 of V3 dosing but it’s stuck at 7%. I’ll post the link when it’s done uploading.

If things continue this way I may start with lowering the amount of rowa I’m putting in the bag to see how much the phosphate changes.

Can’t wait to get my concoction Friday, handful of my acropora could use the boost. Anxious to put it to work.
No need to be anxious. Just make sure you’re using clean tools to take the concoction out of the jar. If you’re worried, start off with a quarter of what you think you might need and slowly ramp up week after week.

Guess I should of worded that differently, excited to put it to work is what I meant. What are you using for a tool/ scoop to remove it from the jar?

Oh sorry, I misunderstood. I’m using a plastic knife that you buy in bulk packs from Costco. I dip the end of the knife straight down about 3/4 of an inch and pull it straight up.

CRT V3 Concoction is working great in my tank. Been feeding the v3 for about 2.5 weeks now every other day. I have white tips of growth on my acro everywhere. Alk consumption is up. My nitrates are dropping like a rock. I don't think I can feed enough to keep up. Might have to put no3 on a doser. You reeeeaally need to watch your nutrients with this.

I have also seen great success with the V3. NO3 has been consistently below 10 for over a week but still struggling with my PO4 which is sticking around 0.2.

Do you think it's working better than your own DIY mix you were doing?

I would say it is about the same. I did not do as many doses with the DIY concoction. The v3 is just more convenient to dose.

Thanks. Did a few different dips and didn’t see anything come off Goni… going to be looking into it some more this weekend. Started as just the one being upset then a day or two ago the one next to it… a third elsewhere is fine… they’ve been happy for a long time but might try another dip and moving them around temporarily

Thanks. My DIY is going great, but I'm trying to figure out how lazy I am.

I just got my first order of v3. How do you all recommend mixing i am going to start slow as my nitrate is already 10 and worry about bottoming things out. I have a mod stocked 310
Gallon tank. Thank!
