Some of my Acro Collection

Could you reference this? It would be interesting to read. If I remember correctly there was a study that showed that corals had a pretty high impact on the bacterial density of the water. Not sure about what "ratio" you're looking for. It is probably dependent on the food you use and your system's density. This is also dependent on the system's general water parameters as the corals should be in an optimal environment to begin with to allow them the best chances to properly feed.

I would also love to find an alternative to this, I wonder if anyone else has any experience on what it could potentially be.
I’d have to get back to you on that, to be honest I’m curious myself as to what that ratio was 18% Bacteria sticks in my mind. I believe Eric Bourneman refers to it in his book Aquarium Corals.

I have not tried it, but it does seem interesting. It sounds similar to tunze's carebacter which is also supposed to have anti vibrio properties as well.

I broke it down in a previous post, you'll need to make sure to cover
Bacteria source - zeobak, pro bio S, Mb7, etc
carbon source - aminos, vinegar, vitamins, etc
particulate food- Min S, coral sprint, etc
Enzymes- Zeozym
Trace elements- from using the fresh SW to mix, certain trace element additives, FM Organic, etc (Note: if you're mixing and dosing with fresh SW be mindful of your system's salinity, it will drift up overtime since you are adding in new salt water)

I combine all of my ingredients, and mix with about 2 liters of water. I use all of it within 3 days usually.

Essentially you're mixing all the products in a separate container before dumping them into the system. You're just isolating the bacteria so that they have first access to the resources and are allowed to multiply before they are consumed by the corals. The corals should then consume the remaining partially digested coral foods, and the remaining enzymes/bacteria will aid in the decomposition/nutrient cycling

I specifically did not recommend dosing values because that is dependent on the system. I would recommend you start dosing half the recommended amount on each product and test as you dose. From there you will be able to make the proper judgement calls on whether you'll need to increase or decrease the product usage.
I'd recommend you revisit the previous posts, and do some slight research on the topic before you venture in. The method should aid your system, but it's best to learn and develop an intuitive understanding so that you can become closer to your system and understand the nuances and interplay that exists in your reef.
Thank you yes this all makes sense will be going back to re-read posts. I just love the idea and when you spoke on the pod cast about nutrition for our bodies and compared to the reef it makes perfect sense. I am nervous cause im sure there are risks but will go back read all the info and as always start slow and low and test alot. I am currently running weekly icp and dosing trace as needed and have noticed a significant difference in all my corals from my acros to lps with growth and color. Thank you for your time! Cheers

I don't think the products I mix have any anti-synergistic effects. It doesn't appear to impact bacterial growth as I still see the bacterial films forming after about 1 day. I've also topped off the concoction with fresh sw as I ran low and saw the bacterial films repopulate.
Either way the same thing will happen in your tank, the isolation just allows you to optimize your products.

Are we saying coral balance is similar to zeozym… i am also finding it very hard to find. Will the mixture still work with out it? I am assuming yes…

I prepared the mixture and added vinegar.

I use it as a flocculant. It’s high in minerals (carriers) and dissolved organics which either adhere or attract other organics which get taken in by organisms or get skimmed out. I can clearly see it collect in my filter socks after 24hrs and it leaves the tank water crystal clear.

Are you willing to share where ya found it
I found it you all expensive but no problems with shipping which was the worst part of all the companies who had it which are in Europe right now.
Hi, I found him in Poland. If it's convenient for you, I'll give you the address.
Thank you i actually found it last night! Ocean store aquarium specialist. Somewhere in Europe easy shipping just via fed x. Thank you though

Always found this weird. I can buy stuff from the US to the U.K. with ease, in fact the customer service is fantastic generally.
