Some of my Acro Collection

[Troylee]

What do you believe those components are doing?

Makes a great food source for my acros to feed upon! A few minutes after dosing all their filaments come out as they feed in the snow storm.

[Charlie’s Frags]

@coral reeftank how’s your crt nitro and Jf Sunday driver?

Sorry, I meant more specifically.

Of the collection of Zeo products displayed in your photo, I was asking what function role you believed they were having. My language was and is vague because obviously Zeo is vague in its description of contents, for example Zeozyme and Biomate are similar functionally in that they are supposed to aid in the reduction of mulm and sludge.

My intention here is to understand what product is accomplishing what, to avoid throwing the kitchen sink at it with half the contents being the same crockery.

[runetspike]

Станет отличным источником пищи для моих акросов! Через несколько минут после введения дозы все их нити выходят наружу, питаясь во время снежной бури.

My macros don't react like that. Are you injecting the whole mixture at once?
Could you record a feeding video?

[coral reeftank]

Just for clarification, everyone is making just enough for one-two doses? And it can only store for about 3-4 days?

Has anyone tried refrigeration?

That’s how I treat it. You’re essentially creating a live feed and along with this comes the pros and cons of maintaining a living culture. I’m sure you can refrigerate as well, but potency will decrease over time and I’m not sure how stable all the ingredients are together over an extended duration.

@coral reeftank how’s your crt nitro and Jf Sunday driver?

Sunday driver is doing well, unfortunately my nitro fell onto my one of my Chalices and was decimated. I have a small frag left growing out in the meantime. How is yours doing?

Hard to explain what each product is exactly, but you can kinda piece together what each product is by the vague descriptions. Zeozym is supposed to be an enzyme based product while biomate appears to be a bacterial product. While they may “functionally” sound the same, their purposes and use cases are different.
To grossly simplify things, let’s imagine zeozym as a general buff to all metabolic processes. This is what an enzyme(biological catalyst) is, it is suppose to lower the activation energy required for reactions to occur.

The biomate appears to be a specific bacterial strain that is used to remedy specific instances.

Using both together will expedite the overall process. When used separately you’ll have to rely on the preexisting bacteria/basal metabolic rate of your system to accomplish whatever it is you want to accomplish.

Yes I dose the entire tank in one shot… I mix it up as I go “let it sit for 30 min” and use it all in a single shot.. @coral reeftank just broke it all down for you better than I could, and worded it much better haha! It works and it works well! Zeozym is more of a food source “enzyme” for the bacteria which helps it culture faster and bio mate is suppose to help release the mulm from the bacteria… is all that needed? Prolly not it’s just stuff I’ve collected over the last year so I’ve been playing and found it to be amazing! Here is 1 months growth of a mariculture acro I got from a friend.. this was a direct import from Bali to Vegas and chopped the day it arrived… 1 month in captivity! It didn’t wait to adjust or sit stagnant it just took off! Colors were dull but coming in nicely now , growth is amazing! It’s normally a pain just to get to them adjust to captive life but with gut loaded bacteria it’s became easier for me anyways.

Sorry to hear that. Mine is doing pretty good. The polyps haven’t looked as “happy” the last couple months but it’s growing…..very slowly.

Now that’s proper growth!

Thats not very slowly lol, almost 2 years and my nitro has only encrusted. WHATS THE SECRET?

I keep things as simple (not stable) as possible. No chasing numbers. Just ranges for the big 3 and I don’t even test for no3/po4 anymore. Last time I checked they were 45 and 0.38. My tank is only 50g so I can easily do +50% water changes very quickly…….which I do about every month. I only feed frozen PE mysis and nori and I only dose kz flatworm stop. No coral foods, bacteria concoctions etc. I’m not saying they don’t help but I really just don’t care enough to try them.

Don’t pay any attention to the salt reading. That’s not correct. I need to recalibrate it

My salt reading is better! :zany-face: Amazing what leaving a door open does for ph…

We don’t leave doors, or windows open in Houston Tx. That isn’t safe. Can’t even trust pulling outside air into the skimmer. We have to dose kalk if we want higher ph.

[biecacka]

Any reason either of you run your salinity up there?
inquiring minds like to know! hahaha

My salt is really around 1.026 or 35.5. My apex probe has been acting funky

[biecacka]

Ok. That makes more sense. But ya never know in this hobby so I figured I would ask.

My trusty plastic reads hydrometer reads 1.026. Sorry I should have made it more of a joke lol…. I still use an old coral life plastic hydrometer ro mix my salt.

I’m in Vegas.. it isn’t that bad! Haha just scorpions and **** roaches come in uninvited.

I am now lol! Another coin in the bucket of acros growing in "high" nutrients :) Have you ever done an ICP? Curious what your iodine is with flatworm stop and nori, also a big fan of large percentage water changes.

I was referring to convicted violent criminals out on bail walking the streets bc our l****** judges give them $10,000 bonds. They’re out with 10% down…..which they can do bc our courts offer payment plans.
