this is my first post here, so hello everyone
I’ll cut to the chase. About a month ago, my tank has been going through it. My params are as follows: 1.025, calc 440 alk 7.8 mag 1280 temp 78.6 ph 8.3 during day 8.1 during night, phosphates and nitrates are 0 or hovering in that area.
I have made some changes. Maybe all of them too sudden. First, I plumbed a frag tank into my DT system. Second, I inherited and hooked up an RODI system. Third, I filled my frag tank with frags. And four, I started making salt water with Red Sea salt. My rodi reads 0ppm TDS, which today has taught me means VERY little in regards to your quality of final water.
My problem: overwhelming and explosive growth of gha, or what looked closer to Dino’s. Under the microscope it does not appear to be Dino’s and I spent a good 4 hours on many samples. I did however find loads of a creature that appears to be some type of microscopic flatworm. My sps are all still happy (where they’re not being suffocated by algae).
1. Can anyone ID this flatworm and if it’s maybe causing problems?
2. Any other ideas?
Feel free to ask any questions, the variables here are always unlimited so I dont know what else to add. Photos attached
