Hello, I’ve seen different things said about sponges and corals. Probably because there are so many types. I noticed a whitish sponge under one of my brains.

Is this something to worry about killing off the coral?

I have sponges under a ton of my corals and no issues. It is something to watch and something you could remove if you wanted to, but should cause no harm. Encrusting sponges (this doesn’t appear to be one) are ones that can smother come things.

It's a non violent filter feeder, no?

If anything, your lobo is fixing to zap that bacteria web into the next dimension.

Yeah, it does look like the non aggressive type. I’ve had an aggressive one once and it was beautiful to look at (purple) but was Terrible.
