Maybe a fungal infection?
I have the same issue and I’m wondering if someone tried fluconazole or other fungal treatments
I actually treated with both cipro and fluco, however did much to help. Imo the biggest change, was when I stopped dosing kalk and switched to a 3 part that balanced out my big 3.Hi!
I have this one. Salinity is in check!
I’m seriously considering treating with fluconazole as it’s one of the few options I never see someone with the same problem trying.
I noticed in another thread you mentioned you stopped your issue? Is this now back ? Did stopping kalk and going to 3 part not help?I actually treated with both cipro and fluco, however did much to help. Hi. No my issue is not back thank god!! But yes once i stopped the KALK and went to a 3 part, all seem to stop.I noticed in another thread you mentioned you stopped your issue? Is this now back ? Did stopping kalk and going to 3 part not help?
Sorry for the late reply, yes they all get affected, I initially get some basing out then after a couple of months that slows. And after that terminal branches start to get slightly bumpy looking and all growth stops. If you put in new frags do they grow or do they stall?
Don’t mean to resurrect but identical issue here. Everything you describe and exactly how it happens. The question is does this warrant a full reset? I mean this hobby is unenjoyable when everything is sitting there frozen in time suffering.Sorry for the late reply, yes they all get affected, I initially get some basing out then after a couple of months that slows. I got ya. So you think it’s stress related? When the issue is resolved, whatever that issue might be, they recover rather quickly. If you put the frags into another healthy system the should grow out normal in 6-8 weeks.
Absolutely. If you haven’t sent out an ICP do so to rule out a water chemistry issue. If it’s biome related not much you could do but keep things stable. Maybe introduce some new established rock. In my case, I was unknowingly running low salinity once I corrected the salinity the problem went away in six weeks.I got ya. So you think it’s stress related?
I did massive water changes many times in the row recently so I’m not sure how much of imbalance it could be. I use tropic marin salt so not much room for issues there. I noticed a lot of people mentioning All For Reef, I use it and had strange mucus growing in it suspended and on the walls of the container. I just switched to 2 part dosing to eliminate that concern and switched frozen food brand. I have exhausted the rest of issues and been using TM hydrometer for a year now.Absolutely. Send out an ICP. You need that insight.I did massive water changes many times in the row recently so I’m not sure how much of imbalance it could be. Not from my experience, no… I had a pink lemonade and pc rainbow that bubbled up pretty badly! Didn’t change a thing and kept adding acros and it never spread and it all went away on its own… I wish I knew what caused it so we knew what fixed it but happy it’s gone either way lol..Don’t mean to resurrect but identical issue here. I did it a while back and it was on point besides lithium being two times the upper limit and low Iodine (almost 0). The tank is 2 years old started with AF rock. Just got 2 rocks from a very mature system hoping to inoculate mine as an attempt to fix the tulip polyps/hyperplasia.Send out an ICP. You need that insight.
How old is your tank?
i see your story and am inspired, but on the other hand I see all the failures and they freak me outNot from my experience, no… I had a pink lemonade and pc rainbow that bubbled up pretty badly! It’s gotta be something with the biome in tanks.. it’s not a pathogen or diasese as it’s been proven over and over that moving a bubbled piece to a different system cures it! If it was either of those it would infect the new tank and keep spreading which it doesn’t.. it doesn’t even spread in the system it started it in my experience.I did it a while back and it was on point besides lithium being two times the upper limit and low Iodine (almost 0). In my experience it absolutely spreads, the issue is different corals manifest different set of symptoms. Observed are: tulip polyps with bumps/hyperplasia rough skin, tulip-like polyps with no other symptoms, tulip polyps with STN, heavy bubbling with growth anomalies with normal polyps, no other symptoms besides STN and no growth. Different pieces manifest different symptoms with about 20% of my corals with no symptoms at all besides slow growth. Completely unaffected corals in my system are digitatas and the WC Cookie Monster. Everything including torches and pectinias are growing super slowly. It’s gotta be something with the biome in tanks.. it’s not a pathogen or diasese as it’s been proven over and over that moving a bubbled piece to a different system cures it! Weird! I have over 70 different acros and only those 2 stunted for awhile.. try clipping anything that’s stalled out and see if it shoots new growth.. I’ve never lost any coral to this, just delayed or stunted growth I should say.In my experience it absolutely spreads, the issue is different corals manifest different set of symptoms. That’s been my experience… my pc rainbow that bubbled up like hot lava is 4 inches away from my fastest growing acro in my system! This thing is on steroids and this is 10 months growth just a few inches away from a bubbled up pc rainbow.I would disagree with the spreading theory because myself and a bunch of other guys that I spoke to over years about this all had their corals recover when placing in a separate system. If it spread then the other tanks would become infected. There is a catalyst in system. Heck, some guys even had success by changing lighting. Some led can be focused and irritating.
