I have become so crazy with Oregon Torts that I have collected 3 frags from 3 different sources and currently at different positions in the tank.
One in crazy high light of 650+ PAR with lots of flow and the color is pure royal blue . The second one is the one I love the most . Deep royal blue at PAR of 450 and crazy flow .
The third one is way down in 275-300 and has lot of brown in it which shows it needs more light .
And these PARs are from radiums - not leds .

Ideally, I would think 450 PAR makes it look the best with crazy flow .
Only frag that can compare to its beauty is an OG purple Monster placed in 650 PAR . Nothing else in daylight colors come even remotely close to the beauty of this classic !

Regards,
Abhishek

My colony of Oregon tort. It's up for sale right now in the live stock for sale forum. It will be missed. Quite a slow grower.

been after this one since 2008. Scored an ORA blue tort in 2008 when visiting the US and unfortunately lost it in 2011 and it had only grown maybe an inch at max. I got a blue oregon tort in 0ct 2015 and it stnd on arrival and I could only save a couple of coralites. since then it has grown much slower than all my other frags but much faster than my o(tank and lighting are of course very different now) progression pics can be found here, Scroll to middle of page

I'll take a new shot and update on growth since then as it's growing faster now.
the only coral that competes with it in color is blue matrix, yet the more full PE covering the blue makes it that the blue oregon tort is a nicer deeper blue which I love more than the blue matrix. blue matrix is a way faster grower.

Can you reveal your 3 sources and which you liked best? I lost my big colony a year ago and want to get a replacement.

Thanks, Bob

That looks fantastic. I've got a frag coming today - hopefully it will grow up to look like that.

Wow, a blast from the past. Quite a few classics is that shot, Pink Jade, Karls Candlelight, Pearlberry, Red Planet, Leng Sy cap, and ORA Chips was under the Red Planet. Not thinking the one visible was Chips though, I think it is just out of the picture.

This frag is something I recently picked up at a LFS. He wasn’t sure the name but said possibly a blue tort. Does it look to be a blue tort?
